MUFFIN

To enter into the festival, films had to be be influenced by a scene from an old film. I chose to loosely base this short off the film “Taxi Driver". In Taxi Driver, the main character begins to talk to himself. Repeatedly saying “you talkin’ to me?”, my film plays on that concept except its a muffin that he thinks is communicating with him. On top of that the main character can never sleep. I compared this to my character who can’t sleep so he goes for a midnight snack. Pausing in front of the fridge for far too long. Unsure of what he wants. The fast cuts towards the end of my film are in a way, like the style that Scorsese uses during the end bit of the famous scene. It allows us to see the character completely unravel, or in the case of my film, see a sleep deprived man deciding whether or not to eat a muffin.
